Schedule Details/Additional Information: 12-hour shifts, weekends. Will be cross trained to front desk and may float to other locations.
Pay Range: $21.85 - $34.35
Major Responsibilities- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
- Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
- Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes CLIA waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
- Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
- Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
- Maintains a clean work environment; ensures instruments and equipment are cleaned, and supplies are stocked; ensures equipment is in working order.
- May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
- May serve as a role champion or on a committee.
- Must provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and follow department policies and procedures for age-specific needs.
Job Requirements Education
- Greater Charlotte:
High School Diploma or GED required. - Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of a formal MA program, or EMT.
- Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
- Ability to perform routine and complex clinical skills within MA scope after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, team members, and physicians.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
- Demonstrates customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.
- Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders during the workday.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds; use patient handling equipment for heavier lifts with another team member when available.
- Case-by-case assessment of unique patient lifting/movement situations.
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine-hand dexterity required.
- Exposure to hazards (mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids); wear protective PPE as needed.
- Operates all job-related equipment.
