Important Employment Dates

This position is temporary and will run from Tuesday, May 26, 2026 through Friday, July 31, 2026. Applicants must be available to work for the full duration of this period. This position requires availability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support recreation programs, activities, and facility rentals.

About

The Role

The Recreation Aide assists in supervising and implementing a variety of recreational activities and provides operational support for facility rentals. This role supports preschool programs, after school activities, adult recreation programs, and summer camps, while helping create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for participants. Recreation Aides actively engage with participants, assist with activity organization, and support staff with daily operations and program delivery.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the supervision and implementation of recreational activities, including adult programs, after school programs, and summer camps.
  • Actively engage with program participants and assist with organizing and conducting activities.
  • Provide support for facility rentals, including basic setup and operational assistance.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
  • Assist staff with daily program operations and participant supervision.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associate degree and two (2) years of experience planning recreational, athletic, and/or leisure activities; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Candidates ages 16–17 are exempt from the education and experience requirement.
Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Must be comfortable driving passenger vans (if age-eligible).
  • Candidates under the age of 18 must possess a North Carolina Youth Employment Certificate.
  • Candidates ages 16–17 are not required to have a driver’s license and will not be required to drive Town vehicles.

This position is not eligible for benefits.
