Important Employment DatesThis position is temporary and will run from Tuesday, May 26, 2026 through Friday, July 31, 2026. Applicants must be available to work for the full duration of this period.
Please Note: This position requires availability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support recreation programs, activities, and facility rentals.
About the RoleThe Recreation Aide serves as a Summer Camp Counselor, assisting with the supervision and implementation of Summer Camp programming. This role focuses on working directly with youth participants during scheduled summer camp hours, helping create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.
Recreation Aides actively engage with campers, assist with activity organization, and support staff with daily camp operations and program delivery.
- Assist with the supervision and implementation of recreational activities, including adult programs, after school programs, and summer camps
- Actively engage with program participants and assist with organizing and conducting activities
- Provide support for facility rentals, including basic setup and operational assistance
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
- Assist staff with daily program operations and participant supervision
- Perform related duties as required
- Associate degree and two (2) years of experience planning recreational, athletic, and/or leisure activities; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience
- Candidates ages 16–17 are exempt from the education and experience requirement.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Candidates ages 16–17 are not required to have a driver’s license and will not be required to drive Town vehicles
- Must be comfortable driving passenger vans (if age-eligible)
- Candidates under the age of 18 must possess a North Carolina Youth Employment Certificate
