Job Purpose

The Community Porter contributes to the comfort, safety, and well‑being of residents by maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment throughout the senior living community. This position plays an important role in supporting daily operations by performing general cleaning, light maintenance, and community support tasks that enhance residents’ quality of life.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in all common areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, dining rooms, activity spaces, and outdoor patios.
  • Assists with light housekeeping tasks in community areas as needed, such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash.
  • Ensures that entrances, sidewalks, and exterior areas are safe, well‑kept, and free from debris or hazards.
  • Collects and disposes of trash and recycling from designated areas throughout the community.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of trash chutes and dumpster areas.
  • Assists with room or furniture setup for resident events, programs, or community functions.
  • Delivers supplies, packages, and equipment to appropriate departments or resident apartments.
  • Monitors for maintenance or safety concerns (e.g., spills, broken fixtures, or potential hazards) and promptly reports them to management.
  • Provides friendly and respectful assistance to residents, families, and visitors, contributing to a positive and caring community atmosphere.
  • Upholds infection control and safety standards in all assigned duties.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned to support the overall operation and presentation of the community.
  • Collaborating with maintenance and management teams to address community needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Compassionate and service‑oriented, with genuine respect and empathy for older adults.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact courteously and professionally with residents, families, and staff.
  • Dependable and detail‑oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a supportive, resident‑focused environment.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and carry items or equipment as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties effectively and courteously.
Working Conditions

The Community Porter works within the Senior Living Community and within the Community grounds. This position may be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, adverse weather, wet/humid conditions, toxic fumes, odors, pathogens, dusts, and pollens. This position may be required to work weekends and/or holidays as assigned.
