Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members.

Qualifications Education

Graduate of accredited LPN/LVN program.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid LPN/LVN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
Experience

One year of nursing experience preferred.

Job Functions
  • Document the resident’s condition and nursing needs.
  • Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders.
  • Assign nursing care to team members based on resident needs and staff capabilities.
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate junior staff and CNAs.
  • Administer medications and treatments, and document as required by company and regulations.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Ensure supplies are used economically and equipment is clean and safe.
  • Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
  • Coordinate nursing care with other departments for therapy or procedures.
  • Assist in hiring processes and participate in counseling or disciplinary actions as permitted by state law.
  • Supervise nursing unit scheduling and staffing where permitted by state practice act.
  • Maintain inventory and communicate needs for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to direct and motivate the workforce.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills for residents, families, and all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to react decisively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
