DMEA supports programs that strengthen local communities, like emerging energy technologies, local renewable energy development, and the deployment of a fiber internet subsidiary, Elevate Internet.
About Us DMEA's service territory is in Southwest Colorado, and we serve approximately 37,000 meters and 30,000 members. We provide affordable, reliable, and safe electric service to members living and working in Montrose and Delta counties. We also provide electric service to a small portion of Gunnison County.
CompensationThe wage for this full-time exempt position is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00/annually

HR Generalist supports a broad range of HR functions, with a primary focus on recruitment, employee onboarding and orientation, employee engagement initiatives, and benefits administration, including open enrollment. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with employment regulations, and delivering exceptional service to employees and leaders across the organization. This position requires a high standard of confidentiality.
Education& Experience
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related area of study. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- A minimum of three (3) years of human resources or business administration experience.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable learning new technologies.
- A valid US driver’s license.
- HR certification (SHRM or HRCI), preferred.
- Leads departments and supervisors in the employee recruitment and selection process. Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and ensure proper selection process is adhered to. Participate in interviews to ensure the best qualified candidate is selected.
- Successfully conduct new hire orientation, including new hire paperwork and benefit enrollment. Facilitate and conduct the comprehensive monthly onboarding and quarterly newcomer lunch programs, including scheduling, communication, processes, and training for employees and supervisors.
- Provide day-to-day HR guidance and support to employees and supervisors. Assist employees with interpretation of personnel policies and procedures to ensure proper compliance to rules, regulations and laws.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans. Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment, including communication, education sessions, and enrollment processing.
- Oversee and facilitate the Employee Engagement Committee for the planning, coordination, and execution of DMEA employee events, including quarterly all-employee meetings and employee appreciation events. Manage all employee engagement communications, such as the monthly newsletters, monthly safety game, event invitations and flyers, and general correspondence.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and the use of keyboard/computer, and occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens.
