Job Summary

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Full-time at Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) through Senior Comm Unity Care of Colorado PACE, Montrose, Colorado.

Employment Details

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour based on previous working experience.

Schedule:

Days will vary and include occasional weekends. Shift times may be 6am‑2pm, 8am‑4pm, 12‑8pm, or 2‑10pm; 80 hours per pay period.

Responsibilities

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing and assisting participants with activities of daily living, restorative and supportive care necessary to preserve participants’ independence in the community. The role includes monitoring and reporting health status, providing a safe environment for the PACE participants, and functioning as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Travel to participant homes may be required.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) in Colorado.
  • Minimum one year’s experience working with the frail or elderly population.
  • Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before direct participant contact.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and means of transportation.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques of a C.N.A.
  • Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co‑workers, medical staff, and the public.
  • Problem‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Calm and effective response in emergency situations.
  • Computer proficiency for timekeeping, in‑servicing, and documentation.
Essential Functions
  • Consult each day with the Personal Care Supervisor (or designee) to receive updates on participant status, plan changes, and confirm scheduled visits.
  • Assist participants in the home and in the day center with personal hygiene, ambulation, prescribed exercise, meal preparation, medication assistance, and toileting, per supervision of the Home Care Manager.
  • Perform other duties taught by a health professional, such as taking vitals, changing colostomy bags, changing non‑sterile dressings, and performing non‑sterile bowel and bladder hygiene care.
  • Assist with IADLs such as grocery shopping, cleaning, bed‑linen changes, laundry, meal prep, and routine household care.
  • Assist participants’ activities in the Day Center, including meal service and cleanup.
  • Maintain daily cleaning of the Day Center and adhere to infection control measures.
  • Complete documentation of services per Senior Comm Unity Care policy.
  • Follow all Senior Comm Unity Care policies, procedures, OSHA safety guidelines, and maintain confidentiality of all participant information.
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with biohazard precautions and practice Universal Precautions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to Senior Comm Unity Care safety policies.
  • Act within the scope of authority to practice.
