Responsibilities
  • Accountable for day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience.
  • Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers under the guidance of a pharmacist, adhering to company policies, laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Select, schedule, hire, train, and retain pharmacy technicians. Lead training, coaching, and performance management, including discipline and termination decisions.
  • Assist the pharmacist with patient care tasks such as registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, verification, and health service activities authorized by law.
  • Delegate, direct, and assign non‑clinical work, ensuring timely completion and accountability for workflow efficiency.
  • Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate pharmacy daily schedules, recommend unit staffing, and maintain a clean, orderly, and adequately stocked pharmacy environment.
  • Manage inventory preparation and execution of business administrative activities that do not require pharmacist licensure.
  • Drive technology and process roll‑outs, champion change, and engage the team in action planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policies and other company pharmacoeconomic procedures.
  • Maintain asset protection techniques, support diversion monitoring, and report any security concerns.
  • Communicate prescription errors and quality improvement procedures to the accountable pharmacist.
  • Process insurance claims accurately, resolve payment rejections, and follow up with insurers and providers.
  • Support financial and operational improvement initiatives alongside the Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager.
  • Manage community outreach portals, coordinate immunization clinics, and maintain retail partnership relationships.
Customer Experience
  • Greet customers, offer assistance, resolve complaints, and answer non‑clinical questions promptly.
  • Develop relationships by anticipating customer needs and promoting value‑added healthcare services.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead discipline, suspension, or termination decisions in accordance with constructive discipline policy.
  • Ensure technicians are trained, scheduled, and accountable for attendance and timeliness.
  • Identify knowledge gaps, provide training, and monitor licensure and certification compliance.
  • Maintain proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per Company policy.
Training & Personal Development
  • Maintain PTCB certification and required state certifications.
  • Continuously improve pharmacy and healthcare knowledge through training and professional development.
  • Obtain necessary certifications and education credits, such as LTMP e‑modules, and pursue performance improvement plans.
  • Seek constructive feedback and leverage mentorship for skill enhancement.
Communication
  • Relay messages from support centers or key emails to the pharmacy team.
  • Participate in store/pharmacy meetings, including 5‑minute stand‑ups and weekly check‑ins.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in specified locations).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous people management or leadership experience.
  • Previous employment at Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
