This role requires an outgoing personality and passion for sharing nutrition knowledge and inspiring people to act and achieve their health goals. You’ll wear many hats in a fast‑paced retail setting conducting classes, private coaching sessions, community outreach, and retail operations. As the store’s nutrition professional, you will act as an educational resource providing science‑based nutrition education/training to the store crew, customers, and the community.

This position is a front‑line contributor to Natural Grocers’ mission and plays an integral role helping improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.

• Acts as the nutrition education resource for customers, crew, and the community.
• Provides customer service on the floor in the vitamin aisles (assists customers with product purchasing, provides education resource).
• Performs retail operations.
• Maintain customer literature files.
• Maintain book department.
• Stock and face product.
• Assist with cleaning the Vitamin Department and store.
• Assist with merchandising product.
• Provide nutrition education.
• Offer in‑store nutrition and recipe demonstration classes.
• Offer outreach nutrition classes.
• Provide regular trainings to crew.
• Maintain the crew wellness board.
• Motivate and provide encouragement for crew to participate in employee nutrition.

• Respond to questions and review summaries.
• Provide private individual one‑on‑one health coaching sessions.
• Build community relationships (practitioner partners for referrals, guest presenters, event partners, etc.).
• Seek outreach opportunities.
• Maintain continued education requirements.
• Read and review research.
• Complete CE assignments.
• Assist management with coordinating, organizing, and executing company‑wide events.
• Print materials used in classes, outreach, and coaching sessions.
• Place orders for nutrition education supplies.
• Train crew on promoting NHC services, in‑store events, and promotions.
• Attend monthly meetings (NHC webinar, regional and sales building calls).
• Act as event ambassador for in‑store guest presenter classes during floor days.

• A degree or certification in nutrition or a related field (dietetics, Bachelor of Science or Master of Biology, Biochemistry, Naturopathy).
• Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Confidence in front of an audience providing cooking demonstrations and nutrition education classes.
• Ability to engage customers and start conversations to promote events, services, and sales.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and priority management.
• Self‑directed and able to maximize time management.
• Able to work well with a team and accept constructive feedback.
• Motivated to grow and develop knowledge and skills.
• Inspired to provide nutrition education to employee crew, customers and the community.
• Comfortable working in a retail setting performing retail operations.
• Friendly, outgoing, and approachable.

• If the degree and/or certification requires continuing education to maintain, the requirements must be fulfilled.
• If the degree and/or certification does not require CEC, maintaining 16 CE hours (or two CE units) per year is required.
