The Fleet Foreperson position is responsible for ensuring that the GR Operations fleet and maintenance shop is in good repair and ready for daily operations. This position ensures that equipment is properly maintained and documents all work. The Fleet Foreperson is part of the Mountain Operations Team and assists regularly with snow making operations, snow removal, parking, golf maintenance, and more as needed.
Fleet consists of snowcats, heavy equipment, ATV/UTVs, snowmobiles, trucks, sander, bucket truck and more. Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, heavy equipment, tracked vehicles is required.
- Performs and documents daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on all GR motorized equipment as required for the type of machine or vehicle.
- Documents all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Maintains shop, vehicle lift, equipment, fuel, oil, lubricants, to OSHA standards; keeps up to date MSDS sheets, plowing and sanding tracking.
- Ensures adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment
- Inspects completed work to guarantee compliance with quality standards
- Implements and enforces shop policies and procedures
- Manages expense and labor budget, maintain timely communication with Finance and GM regarding expenditures
- Schedules and performs equipment maintenance
- Recruits, hires, trains and directs mechanics including performance reviews and documentation
- Ensures compliance with regulations
- Manages resources, workflows, and quality control
- Ensures smooth operations with planning, execution, timely communication with department managers and General Manager
- Learns snow making system and assists with execution of snow making
- Assists with maintenance and repair as needed in pump stations, removes and reinstalls pumps as needed for rebuilds and repair
- Supervises and coordinates staff and workflows within the shop
- May include approving timecards for bi-weekly payroll submission
- Establishes productive working relationships with operations management team, development team, and golf superintendent
- Coordinates with management to understand work requirements and deadlines
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with diesel engines and hydraulics required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience gas engines, 2 stroke engines, UTV, ATV, snowmobiles preferred
- Experience with snowcat maintenance strongly preferred
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to prioritize work in accordance with operational needs
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook – email communication required
- Proven experience as a Shop/Fleet Foreperson or similar role
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem solving skills
- Proficiency with tools, machinery, and equipment used in the industry
- Physical condition to work in extreme weather conditions at high altitude
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid CO Driver's License required
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and be on feet for an 8–10 hour shift
- Dexterity for utilizing keyboard and near, peripheral, and distance vision
- Verbal and auditory abilities necessary for communication with others
