We are looking for a Junior to Intermediate API Developer to join our IT team in Montreal. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys building, integrating, and maintaining APIs that support modern applications and business systems.
Depending on your experience and interests, the role can focus more on backend API development , or a combination of both. You will work closely with other developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and related services
Integrate APIs with frontend applications and internal/external systems
Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to define API contracts and data models
Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code
Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and API issues
Assist with performance, security, and reliability improvements
Support existing applications and contribute to ongoing enhancements
Required Qualifications 2–4 years of professional experience in software development (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Solid understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON , and web application fundamentals
Experience with one or more backend languages or frameworks (e.g., .NET, Java, Node.js))
Familiarity with databases SQL
Experience using Git or other version control systems
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have
Experience with API security (OAuth, JWT, authentication/authorization)
Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
Experience with microservices architecture
Knowledge of API documentation tools (Swagger / OpenAPI)
