RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Roy Dudley, pediatric neurosurgeon and clinical researcher at the MUHC. The position supports innovative research projects involving multimodal imaging, intraoperative optical spectroscopy, and artificial intelligence in pediatric epilepsy. The incumbent will coordinate clinical and translational studies aimed at improving localization of epileptogenic zones and surgical outcomes. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, engineers, and researchers.
The role includes operational project management, regulatory compliance, and scientific support.
General Duties
• Coordinate clinical research studies (REB submissions, patient recruitment, consent),
• Manage clinical and research data (databases, quality control, security),
• Collaborate with clinical teams, laboratories, and academic partners,
• Organize research activities (sample collection, imaging, patient follow-up),
• Prepare and submit regulatory documents (ethics, amendments, reports),
• Contribute to protocol writing, publications, and grant applications,
• Track project budgets and administrative requirements,
• Supervise and train students and research assistants.

Master's Degree
Field of study:
Biomedical sciences, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related field
Work experience:
2–5 years in clinical or translational research environment
Required Skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills,
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously,
• Familiarity with hospital and research environments,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
• Experience with databases (, REDCap),
• Autonomy, attention to detail, and initiative,
• Experience in AI, imaging, or neuroscience (asset).
• Advanced knowledge of oral and written French is required.
• An intermediate knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
