Microsoft Research (MSR) offre un environnement dynamique pour les chercheurs et un réseau de laboratoires de recherche de classe mondiale dirigés par des scientifiques reconnus à l’échelle mondiale. Nos chercheurs se consacrent à l’innovation dans toutes sortes de disciplines techniques et scientifiques afin de résoudre des problèmes complexes auxquels sont confrontés divers secteurs, notamment l’informatique, les soins de santé, l’économie et l’environnement.
L’équipe FATE MTL (équité, responsabilité, transparence et éthique) de  Microsoft Research Montréal  déploie des efforts pour aligner l’utilisation des systèmes informatiques sur des objectifs sociétaux généraux au service du bien collectif, de la justice et de l’équité. Notre objectif consiste à comprendre quelles sont les limites des systèmes d’IA, et comment leur déploiement dans des systèmes sociotechniques complexes du monde réel pourrait avoir des répercussions négatives sur les personnes, les groupes et les sociétés.

Notre équipe développe des techniques à la fois quantitatives et qualitatives pour examiner les hypothèses et les pratiques qui sous-tendent le développement et le déploiement de systèmes d’IA, et pour contribuer à l’exactitude et à la transparence de ces systèmes. Nous y parvenons en misant sur la recherche collaborative interdisciplinaire.

Les stagiaires collaboreront avec des membres du groupe de recherche Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics in AI (FATE) Montréal. We are seeking Research Interns to join our team and contribute to the advancement of key projects and agenda pursued in the Montreal lab. Candidates will get an opportunity to interact with other MSR labs, and especially with the New York lab, New England lab and Redmond lab.

The Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics (FATE MTL) team at  Microsoft Research Montréal  seeks to align the uses of computation al systems to broader societal goals in the service of social good, justice, and fairness. Our aim is to understand the limits of AI systems and how their deployment in complex real-world sociotechnical systems might adversely impact individuals, groups, and societies. Our team develops both quantitative and qualitative techniques to examine assumptions and practices that underpin the development and deployment of AI systems, and to make these systems more just and transparent.

We achieve these goals through collaborative, interdisciplinary research.

Interns will collaborate with members of the Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics in AI (FATE) research group. A list of researchers in the MTL FATE group can be found here. Members of the group collaborate extensively with each other and with other groups across Microsoft.
