Senior Project Manager - Enterprise AI & Data Initiatives

Department:  Enterprise Project Management Office

Montreal (Hybrid - minimum 3 days/week on-site)

Contract Duration:  12 months

Renewal:  One (1) optional 12-month renewal at BDC’s discretion

Context & Mandate
BDC is seeking a  Senior Project Manager  to lead the delivery of multiple  complex, enterprise-level initiatives  focused on  Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and enterprise data modernization . These strategic initiatives involve multiple interdependent work streams across business units, IT delivery teams, data and analytics functions, legal and risk partners, and external service providers.

This role requires strong governance, executive-level engagement, and structured delivery oversight due to the high degree of organizational impact, technical complexity, and risk associated with AI- and data-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead enterprise AI and data initiatives from planning through execution and closure.

Establish and maintain project governance, including reporting, risk and issue management, escalation, and change control.

Coordinate multiple internal teams and external vendors to ensure alignment with scope, timelines, and contractual obligations.

Engage senior business and IT stakeholders and executive sponsors.

Manage risks related to data quality, regulatory compliance, security, and organizational readiness.

Provide executive-level status reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.

Monitor and control budget, scope, and schedule.

Ensure adherence to BDC project management methodology, governance standards, enterprise architecture, and procurement policies.

Support organizational change management and adoption of AI-enabled and data-driven solutions.

Champion agile and hybrid delivery practices in evolving and complex environments.

MUST-HAVES

15+ years of experience delivering complex IT or business transformation initiatives

10+ years in senior  Project or Program Management  roles

Proven experience leading  enterprise-scale data, analytics, or AI initiatives  (e.g., data platform modernization, advanced analytics, AI-enabled solutions)

Excellent communication skills in English and  French

Strong governance and executive stakeholder management experience

Experience coordinating multiple delivery streams with internal teams and external vendors

Experience managing high-risk, high-impact enterprise initiatives

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field

Experience with  hybrid delivery models  (Agile, Waterfall, or mixed)

Strong executive reporting, documentation, and communication skills

Proficiency with project/portfolio management tools (e.g., MS Project, EPM)

Ability to work  on-site in Montreal (hybrid)  - role cannot be fully remote

Nice-to-Haves

Master’s degree

Project Management certification (PMP, PgMP, Prince2, etc.)

Experience in regulated or highly governed environments

Contexte et mandat
La BDC est à la recherche d’un(e)  Chef(fe) de projet senior  pour soutenir la livraison de  programmes stratégiques à l’échelle de l’entreprise  liés à l’ intelligence artificielle (IA) , à l’ analytique avancée  et à la  modernisation des plateformes de données .

Ces initiatives complexes impliquent plusieurs chantiers interdépendants et requièrent une coordination étroite entre les équipes d’affaires, TI, données et analytique, partenaires juridiques et de gestion des risques, ainsi que des fournisseurs externes. Le mandat exige une gouvernance robuste, un encadrement structuré et un engagement soutenu des dirigeants.
