Technical Expert, Engineering - Engine Performance

What you contribute to the team
- Understand the engine control system functionality, aircraft performance and how these interface with the whole aircraft and various sub-systems.
- Support engine performance aspects including bleed system integration, idle settings definition (including steep approach), and go-around performance.
- Collaborate with propulsion, thermodynamics, hydraulic, electrical and fuel system groups.
- Estimate installed power-plant performance (e.g., thrust, Specific Fuel Consumption, rotational speeds, turbine temperatures).
- Plan engine performance flight testing and support flight test data reduction; create reports documenting flight test data analysis and support aircraft certification.
- Plan engine performance tasks and priorities for development programs.
- Participate in the application and development of the Bombardier Engineering System (BES) with a focus on ensuring Engine Performance processes are followed and continually improved.
- Support new product development activities as part of an IPDT.
- Support management with hiring by reviewing candidates and participating in selection interviews.
- Collect lessons learned and promote best practices across aircraft development programs.
- Plan and conduct engine performance ground and flight tests for aircraft certification and supplier compliance.
- More than 11 years of relevant experience in Engine Performance (ideally 14+ years).
- Experience conducting engine performance ground and flight tests for aircraft certification and supplier compliance.
- DAD (Design Approval Designee) or meeting its requirements; eligibility for membership in an engineering professional order is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Part 25 regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
Master’s degree is an asset. - Proficiency in programming languages used in the industry (e.g., FORTRAN, C++, Python, MATLAB, Teamcenter) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligible to obtain Controlled Goods Clearance to work on Miss ionized Aircraft Programs in support of Bombardier Defense.
