Our client is a leading manufacturer of home goods and kitchenware. Their well-known brands are sold in retailers nationwide. With offices in the US, Canada and China they are expecting much growth to the team.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, product development, electrical & mechanical engineers, sourcing, and our supplier’s development / engineering teams to design and develop innovative products that meet the highest standards of performance, aesthetics, and user experience.
You will manage and support various Engineering projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical and electrical functions of small kitchen appliances (SKA’s).
- Drive innovation in the feature set and performance or SKA’s.
- Manage new product introduction projects through the product stage gate process.
- Lead multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with product development managers to develop product specifications conforming to the necessary Engineering standards.
- Manage and coordinate all activities starting with the factories and overseas teams to achieve specific deliverables within the product development schedule
- Review product reports from overseas teams.
- Support configuration of new part or project creation into the PLM and ERP systems.
- Support quality investigations and make recommendations for solutions and improvements to product and processes.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Preferred Electrical) is mandatory.
- Professional Engineer, Member of the OIQ (Order of Quebec Engineer) - Nice to have
- Minimum 10 years related experience in product design and development.
- Experience in product compliance (CSA, UL, CE, IEC) is an asset.
- Experience in Go To Market project stage gate process is an asset.
- Experience and exposure to designing small electromechanical devices is an asset.
- Prior experience working with retailers and/or consumer goods is an asset.
- Analytical skills and ability to understand complex concepts.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with good follow-up skills and an attention to detail.
- Proven ability to multi-task and work with multiple departments and overseas suppliers.
- Proven ability creating 3D CAD files. Solidworks knowledge preferred.
