About the Role
Myticas Consulting is supporting a leading optical communications company in the search for an experienced ASIC Design Engineer to join their expanding team in Ottawa. In this role, you will design and verify deep sub‑micron ASICs and IP for next‑generation, high‑speed optical communication systems, working within an international, multi‑site engineering organization. You will focus on high‑performance digital designs using VHDL/Verilog, advanced signal processing, and cutting‑edge silicon technologies to enable state‑of‑the‑art optical signal processing solutions.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, production‑grade ASICs that power high‑bandwidth networks used around the world.

Responsibilities

Design and develop state‑of‑the‑art ASIC devices and IP blocks for high‑speed optical communication systems

Implement RTL in VHDL/Verilog and perform ASIC verification for production and tape‑out projects

Apply deep sub‑micron silicon technologies to meet aggressive performance, area, and power targets

Contribute to the architecture, specification, and documentation of digital blocks for optical signal processing and high‑speed communication

Collaborate closely with international, multi‑site engineering teams across different time zones throughout design, verification, and integration phases

Requirements

Based in, or willing to relocate to, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Minimum 8 years of industry experience in deep sub‑micron ASIC design

At least 5 years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in ASIC design, electronic engineering, or closely related fields

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline

Hands‑on experience with VHDL and/or Verilog development and ASIC verification on production or tape‑out projects

Experience designing ASIC devices or IP for high‑speed communication or optical signal processing systems

Preferred Skills

Experience in high‑speed analog or mixed‑signal design for communication systems

Experience in digital signal processing (DSP) and forward error correction (FEC) design for communication or optical systems

Background collaborating with international, multi‑site engineering teams

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
