Your Role
As a Trade Deductions Analyst, you are responsible for investigating, validating, and resolving payment discrepancies related to trade promotions and other deductions made by customers. You ensure the accuracy of financial records and help reduce revenue loss by collaborating with internal stakeholders to resolve deductions in a timely manner.
The position is based in downtown Montréal and requires a hybrid work presence.
What you will accomplish daily
- Analyze and Validate Claims: Review customer deduction claims against promotional agreements, contracts, and internal system data to determine their legitimacy. (SAP & Fox)
- Resolve Discrepancies: Investigate and resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by gathering documentation and coordinating with sales, finance, accounts receivable, and customer service teams.
- Manage Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for internal regarding all trade deduction communications.
- Reconciliation & Reporting: Clear deductions from customer accounts, maintain accurate transaction records for audit trails, and prepare reports on deduction trends and root causes for management review.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the deductions process and implement enhancements in collaboration with IT or management.
- Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and evidence of promotional activities and deduction resolutions.
What you need to join our team
- A bachelor's degree or college diploma in Finance,Accounting, or a related field is often required.
- 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, accounts receivable, or a similar function, often within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and complex data manipulation) and experience with ERP systems (SAP) & trade promotion management software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail, to identify patterns and resolve complex data discrepancies.
