Senior Software Developer; UM

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze and understand existing software modules and constructs of the software systems used by the Company.
• Coordinate and discuss business goals, objectives, and requirements for requested change.
• Ability to develop deep customer relationships and become a trusted advisor
• Create new or updated existing programs to correct errors or provide enhanced functionality.
• Monitor the assigned programs and respond to issues by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.
• Review user requirements and needs for new software and perform analysis, design, implementation, installation, and training related to new software developed or acquired.
• Communicate with business on project progress, issues, etc.
• Use analytical skills and computer knowledge to improve business workflow using computerized systems.
• Design and document systems based on analysis results and consultation within the Analytics and Programming Department.
• Experience working in an agile development environment
• Provide clarity for the program’s concept, identify potential problems, and suggest alternative solutions.
• Document the development of the program for future modification.
• Work closely with Company leadership to ensure the computer systems meet business needs, considering both hardware and software issues when developing new systems or expanding existing one.
• Assist users and operating areas in implementing and supporting systems including system installation, training, and troubleshooting.
• Carry out fact finding and program analysis of problems; applies established procedures to bring resolution.
• Assist in selecting hardware and software; maintain contact with vendors.
• Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements.

• Demonstrated high abilities in Core Java development skills
• 3rd party software integrations (REST APIs, SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, etc.)
• Building secure, performant, scalable software (APM tools, profilers, performance testing tools)
• CI/CD tools (Bitbucket, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, Nexus)
• The ideal candidate has a Computer Science degree or equivalent and shares our core values

• 10+ years of Software development experience using web technologies
• Expert experience using: .Net C# / SQL / WPF / NHibernate
• Strong object-oriented analysis experience
• Competence using React
• Someone to learn and master Guidewire's Digital products to develop and maintain our products in production.
• Expert requirements gathering, database design, diagramming, coding, and documentation skills
• Experience with, or willingness and ability to learn, Jutro, Guidewire’s design system
• Experience with CSS, SASS, and other look-and-feel technologies
• Experience with or exposure to automated unit testing using Jest/Enzyme or similar frameworks
• Exposure to server-side technologies (JSON/RPC, REST)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
