Job SummaryAs the Scrum Master, you will facilitate agile processes and ceremonies for development teams.
Job DescriptionThe Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating agile processes and ceremonies for development teams. This role will support the team in delivering high-quality products and services by fostering an environment of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. The Scrum Master acts as a servant-leader, coaching the team in agile principles and practices, removing impediments, and shielding the team from external interferences. - Organize and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives
- Ensure ceremonies are productive, time-boxed, and result in actionable outcomes
- Maintain and update the team s sprint board and other agile tools (e.g., Jira, Digital.ai) to ensure transparency and accuracy of work progress.
- Coach the development team on Scrum values, principles, and best practices
- Promote self-organization and cross-functionality within the team
- Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team s progress, escalating when necessary
- Help the team continuously improve its processes and productivity through retrospectives and feedback loops
- Foster clear communication channels between the development team, Product Owner, and other stakeholders
- Assist the Product Owner in maintaining a well-groomed and prioritized product backlog
- Protect the team from outside distractions and unsolicited requests.
- Track and report on sprint progress, velocity, and other key agile metrics
- Use data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and communicate team performance
- Contribute to the agile community of practice within Highmark, sharing knowledge and learning from others
Required:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3-5 years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
- At least 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team
- Experience with agile tools such as Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Rally, or similar.
- Familiarity with various agile techniques (e.g., User Stories, TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong servant-leadership abilities
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$50.00-$55.00 per hr
The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
