About the Role

The Director of Sales is responsible for driving business growth through both strategic leadership and hands‑on sales execution. This role combines strategic sales planning, customer relationship management, and team development with direct involvement in the quoting process, customer negotiations, and daily sales operations. The Director of Sales serves as a key liaison between executive leadership and customers, ensuring alignment of sales strategies with operational realities while building and maintaining the deep customer relationships critical to UMC s success.

This position is designed to capture and build upon institutional knowledge while modernizing sales processes, requiring both a strategic mindset and a willingness to work directly in sales operations.

What You ll Do

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Director of Sales consist of but are not limited to:

Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable
  • Working  on  the business by providing clear direction, creating an opening for employees, and taking time to think.
  • Working  in  the business by creating clear expectations, communicating well, and ensuring things get done.
  • Create a work environment where people are fully engaged and highly accountable.
Sales Strategy and Execution
  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that drive revenue growth with existing and new customers.
  • Direct the company s estimating and quoting process by establishing standards that support both UMC and customer needs.
  • Evaluate and refine sales processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Business Development
  • Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships that align with company values and growth strategy.
  • Lead and facilitate onboarding processes for new customers, ensuring seamless transition into UMC s systems and processes.
  • Develop strategies to increase sales volume and market share in target industries.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain long‑term, value‑driven relationships with key customers, serving as a trusted partner and primary point of contact.
  • Gather customer and industry intelligence on market trends, new opportunities, program changes, and potential risks.
  • Lead formal customer business reviews, presenting performance insights and identifying areas for improvement.
Forecasting and Performance Management
  • Oversee forecasting of sales trends and develop long‑term strategies to support business growth objectives, identifying opportunities and challenges for long‑term planning.
  • Establish, track and analyze performance of sales goals, metrics and KPIs, reporting on progress against established targets.
  • Monitor demand for parts and analyze changes in demand regularly to keep customers and project teams updated on EAU projections, dedicated inventory requirements, MOQ, etc.
  • Perform and report on risk analysis appropriate to the product and company.
Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, business, or related technical field preferred, or equivalent work experience
