SHIFT: PRN, Rotating
Location: White Memorial Hospital, Monticello IN
The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs tests on patient specimens, providing diagnostic and treatment information. Responsibilities include maintaining records, exercising independent judgment to produce accurate results within quality standards, participating in research, and acting as a resource for staff. They instruct students and staff on procedures, develop and modify protocols, and assume additional duties as directed.
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
- Requires one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Requires certification or eligibility for certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent; certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Failure to do so may result in demotion or termination.
- Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, specialized equipment, and routine maintenance.
- Ability to maintain quality control records and use computers for data entry and retrieval.
- Strong analytical skills for qualitative and quantitative assessments.
- Ability to work independently, handle interruptions, and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
