Job Description

Organize, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive sports program designed to meet the needs and interests of the district and community.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct students and manage their behavior effectively
• Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Apply strong problem-solving skills
• Hold Coaching Principles Certificate (NFHS or ASEP)
• Obtain Sports First Aid Health & Safety for Coaches Certificate (ASEP or PREPARE)
• Complete coaches' portion of NFHS Sportsmanship Course
• Complete NFHS Concussion course
• Complete NFHS Heat Acclimatization course
• Maintain active CPR certification with AED Training each year
• Complete NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest course
• Possess general knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
• Have knowledge of the sport and specific subjects assigned
• Understand curriculum and instruction principles

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Utilize various instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of student-athletes
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practices to promote athletic growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship
• Coordinate with school staff to plan instructional goals for student-athletes
• Establish and evaluate performance criteria for competition
• Ensure safety and compliance with all AHSAA rules
• Monitor student eligibility for extracurricular activities
• Work with Athletic Director to schedule and organize athletic events
• Continuously evaluate and improve the coaching program
• Supervise student-athletes during competitions and trips
• Advise students on NCAA regulations regarding academic and recruiting requirements
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years coaching experience
• Other qualifications as determined by the Board
