Job Overview

Amwaste is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain the engine and equipment on our waste collection trucks and provide courteous service to truck drivers who operate these trucks daily. Our mechanics engage with drivers and impact their community in a positive way.

Full-time

$25.00/hour and up based on experience

• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules.
• Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnose and subsequently make repairs.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and equipment.
• Attend safety meetings and classes.
• Maintain tools and equipment.
• Keep a safe and tidy shop.
• Weld and fabricate parts as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles.
• Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in welding.
• Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and devising related solutions.
