American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity ICU/intermediate care unit position in Montgomery, AL, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.
Details- Work in a mixed-acuity unit that includes intermediate care and non-vented ICU-level patients on an 18-bed unit
- Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center hospital with 492 beds
- Neurological and post-procedural patient population including post-TNK, neuro IR procedures (embolizations, angiography), hemorrhages/aneurysms, burr holes, post VP shunt placements, post craniotomy/craniectomy, lumbar drains, spinal cord injuries, EVDs, continuous EEG, and neuro/spine surgery
- Also manages patients with Respiratory Failure, CHF, Hypotension, Sepsis, AMS, Acute Neurological Diagnoses, DKA, and electrolyte abnormalities
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3 based on acuity; CNA support at 1:12
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with night shift availability (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM); 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required; back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- No on-call requirements

Spacelabs & Resparray - Floating may occur to like units (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task limited to 3, ICU-ER/holds)
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license required (pending license with ETA may be considered)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required; first-time travelers must have at least 2 years of ICU experience
- Experience managing patients on BiPAP/CPAP required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required, including reading and measuring telemetry strips
- Experience with CVP monitoring, hemodynamic line monitoring, post-surgical drains, trachs, and chest tubes required
- Experience titrating drips including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Esmolol, Insulin, Cardene, Nitro, Levophed, and Epinephrine required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Required for consideration: 1 reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months, copy of certifications, SSN, and date of birth (day and month)
- Unit is in an intentional culture-building phase, with a shared commitment to improvement, accountability, and staff voice
- Strong departmental support includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, rapid response team, dedicated educator and nurse mentor, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and intensivist 24/7
- Orientation for new travelers or those returning after 1+ year absence includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours of on-unit orientation; rehire orientation depends on last date at the facility
- Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy; specific holiday dates are not guaranteed off prior to arrival
- Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, excluding blackout dates

- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- An interview is required; this facility does not use auto-offers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
