Risk Manager/Analyst, CFO
General Overview: SVP, Underwriting position is responsible for profitability and revenues of the billion dollars of stop loss business underwritten by or on behalf of HM Insurance Group. Major responsibilities include development and execution of the stop loss product line, pricing and underwriting strategies to achieve revenue and profitability target objectives set forth by HMIG and approved by its board of directors.
This multi-faceted position plays a key role in the corporate strategic planning, assessments and execution of business opportunities and strategic alliances, assessments of market conditions and their impact on the short and long term strategies for the corporation. In addition to the financial responsibilities, the SVP, Underwriting is responsible for successful management of the multi-discipline and highly diversified Underwriting Department coupled with extensive management of any external partners performing underwriting functions on behalf of HM Insurance Group.
- Development, execution and monitoring of the product line pricing and underwriting strategies for all lines of business underwritten by and on behalf of HM Insurance Group.
- Management of the multi-disciplined Underwriting department.
- Management of the external partners performing underwriting functions on behalf of HM Insurance Group.
- Participating in development and execution of the corporate strategic initiatives.
- Development and maintenance of relationships with key external producers and vendors
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- 10+ years of experience in Underwriting of multiple product lines
Preferred:
- Graduate Degree in business
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective leadership skills in a diversified environment
- Extensive expertise in underwriting of stop loss, Workers Comp and ancilliary life and accident products
- Effective negotiator and closer
- Uncommon adaptability to changing environments.
