Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain open communication with regional and facility staff to facilitate behavioral health delivery system and resolution of problem situations.
  • Provide documentation of the delivery of facility behavioral health services to the RBHD and others as requested. Such information will be in the form of annual reports, monthly statistics, and in other manners as necessary.
  • Involvement with the recruitment, interviewing and selection of behavioral health staff.
  • Consult with other health care providers to provide training, mentoring and to be directly involved with the evaluation and treatment of severely ill and medically complex patient care problems.
  • Assure that performance reviews are completed annually for staff under direct supervision, including establishing specific, individual professional development goals.
  • Inform the RBHD (or the VPO in the absence of the RBHD) in a timely manner of all relevant political, financial and liability issues and make recommendations for any changes in procedures.
  • Assist in the development and revision of programs, program policies and procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external committees and management team meetings.
  • Coordinate admissions and discharges of patients to Specialized Mental Health Treatment Units when needed.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff as needed including being available for staff to debrief about difficult situations.
  • Oversee the professional development, training, and supervision of clinical staff as assigned.
  • Provide back-up clinical care to clients when assigned staff is unavailable.
  • Compliance with Corizon Health employee standards and applicable employee standards of the Department of Corrections. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a working environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working relationships and timely notification to supervisory personnel of absences from work.
  • Provide insight, ideas, thoughts, numeric data and technical information.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Current license at the Masters level in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience administering a behavioral health program. To include a thorough knowledge of principles and practices of mental health administration including strategic planning; evaluation of services, staffing and resource management.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to correctional facilities, regional offices, client and/or vendor sites.
  • Experience specific to the field of corrections preferred.
  • A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
