The Histology Technician shall provide timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing histology procedures accurately and efficiently. He or she shall detect and report unusual conditions to supervisor, demonstrate knowledge of histologic techniques, principles, instruments, and their relationship, and may have additional duties assigned within the scope of the role.

• Associate’s degree in Applied Science Histotechnician or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and/or Biology. In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to those who performed high‑complexity testing on or before April 1995.
• ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification may be required based on degree or experience.

Position requires sitting for 80 % of the workday and mobility for 20 % of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching; frequent reaching, use of hands, repetitive action. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds. Requires clear diction and hearing sensitivity for phone or in‑person conversation. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protection from weather and temperature changes.

Minimal noise levels. Exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
