Position SummaryThe Lab Assistant II coordinates specimen processing to ensure the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of blood specimens for lab tests. Uses phlebotomy decision‑making and problem‑solving skills to ensure timely collection of all lab orders. Assists in training of Lab Assistant I and phlebotomists while coordinating lab sendouts and performing microbiology specimen processing.
Responsibilities- Coordinate specimen collection, receipt, processing, and delivery of blood specimens for lab tests.
- Utilize phlebotomy decision‑making and problem‑solving skills for timely collection of all lab orders.
- Assist in training Lab Assistant I and phlebotomist staff.
- Coordinate lab sendouts and perform microbiology specimen processing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a hospital, reference, or physician office lab or as Lab Assistant I.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing personal computer skills.
Requires sitting 60% of the day and mobility 40%. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, hand use, and repetitive action. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Requires clear verbal communication and visual acuity. Work performed indoors, minimal noise, intermittent exposure to electrical shock, infectious disease, and hazardous chemicals.

7 on/7 off – Third Shift. Regular full‑time employment.
