Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant shall provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner. This individual shall assist in delivery of patient education, communicate the patient information to and from the physician, and assume various job tasks as assigned. The Medical Assistant is responsible for direct, individualized, goal‑directed patient care under the supervision of a Physician. The position may include additional duties within the scope of the role.
Education& Experience
High School Graduate or equivalent required, with medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting (e.g., clinical lab, physician's office, Emergency Medical Tech.). Medical Training may include LPN, Lab, Radiology, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Physician Office.
License & CertificationActive Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred, BLS required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of equipment:
Glucometer, PT/INR machine, wheelchair, and thermometers. - Knowledge of tests:
Urinalysis and EKG. - Organizational skills.
- Oral and written communication and computer skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Effective communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency by passing all written and clinical tests.
Physical Requirements
The position requires frequent standing (30%), walking (40%), and sitting (5%) of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 15 pounds. Continuous speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range;
vision 20/40 or better (with or without correction). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Indoor conditions protect from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes; minimal noise levels. Occasional exposure to electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
