Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system in central Alabama, serving nearly 60 % of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties. The Medical Assistant will provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner, assist with patient education, and communicate patient information to and from the physician.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, individualized, goal‑directed patient care under the supervision of a physician.
- Assist in the delivery of patient education and communicate patient information with physicians.
- Perform various job tasks as assigned and may assume additional duties within the scope of the role.
High‑school graduate or equivalent, with medical training through a certificate program or at least two years of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting (e.g., clinical lab, physician’s office, emergency medical tech).
License / CertificationActive Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred;
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Knowledge of equipment: glucometer, PT/INR machine, wheelchair, thermometers.
- Knowledge of tests: urinalysis, EKG.
- Organizational skills.
- Oral and written communication and computer skills.
- Customer services skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
- Proficiency in passing all written and clinical tests.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing (30%), walking (40%), and sitting (5%) of the workday.
- Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands and repetitive action.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 lb.
- Continuous speaking with clear diction; hearing sensitivity and vision 20/40 or better required.
- Exposure to computer work, risk of electrical shock, infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, and radiation may occur.
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
