Job OverviewThe Hazardous Waste Program Manager manages all programs associated with the Hazardous Waste (HW) Program. This position reports directly to the Environmental Flight Chief. The role is full time onsite at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Job Functions:
- Manage satellite/initial accumulation points, collect waste, and accomplish the required documentation for container inventories and record keeping of HW.
- Use the Air Force’s (AF) EESOH-MIS environmental management system (EMS) to create removal orders, document manifests, and other activities associated with HW.
- Remain current with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). required to develop and process documents and manifests to ship HW.
- Coordinate with the AF designated representatives for all waste manifests prior to transport of any waste materials from the boundary of the base.
- Review and maintain reports, logs, and manifests from nonhazardous and hazardous waste generating activities.
- Provide disposal management of all hazardous, universal, and special/state regulated wastes generated on base.
- Maintain compliance with HW program aspects including 8700-12 and 8700-13 reports, permits, fees, studies, analysis, corrective actions, reports and interaction with appropriate government agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable and most current DoD, AF, federal, state, and local requirements and environmental laws.
- Pickup waste, from base wide satellite accumulation sites or waste generation areas within the RCRA required timelines and deliver to 90-day central accumulation areas.
- Operate forklift to move and to load HW containers onto disposal trucks.
- Train satellite accumulation point managers in accordance with AF regulations.
- Manage all toxics programs requirements associated with MAX-GUN AFB.
- Maintain compliance with toxics programs aspects including permits, fees, studies, analysis, corrective actions, and interaction with appropriate government agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable and most current DoD, AF, federal, state, and local requirements and environmental laws. This includes creating and filing a PCB log annually.
- Manage all waste storage program requirements to support the installation and remote operating locations.
- Maintain compliance with HW storage program aspects including permits, fees, studies, analysis, corrective actions, annual reports and interaction with appropriate government agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable and most current DoD, AF, federal, state, and local requirements and environmental laws. - Annually review and update the Hazardous Waste Management Plan, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan, and the Qualified Recycling Program Plan.
