Data Center Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator
About the Role:
The Data Center Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of personnel and ensuring a safe work environment within the facility. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that comply with all relevant regulations and company policies.
For this position we are hiring for 2 locations:
- Montgomery, AL
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and assess potential hazards, recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate staff on proper procedures, emergency protocols, and hazard recognition.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Investigate safety incidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Collaborate with management and other departments on safety initiatives and ensure effective communication of safety protocols.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and conduct drills to ensure the team's readiness for various emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in occupational safety and health (OSH), Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably within a data center environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA standards and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train, guide, and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Pay Range:
The salary for a Data Center Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator typically falls within the range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and company size. Some employers may offer additional benefits packages, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Additional Notes:
- Depending on the specific role and company, additional certifications, such as OSHA 30, may be required or preferred.
- Prior experience in electrical safety and knowledge of data center operations can be considered valuable assets.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
