Alabama State University, College of Business Administration, Department of Accounting and Finance, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance. The successful applicant will contribute to the mission of the University by supporting student success, engaging in impactful scholarly activities consistent with AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) expectations, and participating in departmental and college initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities:- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Finance courses and address established student learning outcomes
- Facilitate learning through effective and innovative teaching strategies
- Develop and deliver course curricula and syllabi in accordance with department, college, and AACSB standards
- Assess students' progress and adapt instructional techniques and resources as needed
- Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through discipline-base research and peer‑reviewed publications
- Remain current in the Finance discipline through professional and scholarly engagement
- Advise students on academic pathways and degree requirements
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service including committee work and community engagement
- Support AACSB Accreditation efforts, including assurance of learning (AOL) and curriculum assessment
- Supervise student workers and graduate assistants as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
An earned Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution, 5 years of full‑time collegiate teaching experience in Finance, Accounting or a related field, 3 years of academic administrative experience, demonstrated ability to maintain AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) status through peer‑reviewed intellectual contributions, working knowledge of proposal writing and grant administration, and must currently hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Profess in an Accounting or Finance department.
