Position Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Construction Manager to join our project team in Montgomery, AL. In this role, you will work directly alongside the Construction Manager and Superintendent to support field operations, drive project scheduling, manage subcontractor coordination, and ensure quality control standards are met from groundbreaking through closeout. This is a hands‑on construction management role with real ownership and a clear path for advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Construction Manager with daily field oversight, project scheduling updates, and coordination of active work fronts
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, phasing plans, and resource allocation to keep work on track
  • Manage subcontractor coordination including scope review, daily direction, and performance accountability
  • Track and process submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings in coordination with the project team and design consultants
  • Conduct quality control inspections throughout all phases of construction and proactively address non‑conformance items
  • Enforce project safety policies on the jobsite and actively participate in all safety‑related meetings, audits, and reporting
  • Assist with monthly owner pay applications, change order preparation, and budget tracking in partnership with the Construction Manager
  • Monitor field progress daily and maintain accurate project documentation including reports, logs, and correspondence
  • Communicate project status to internal leadership, subcontractors, and clients with clarity and professionalism
  • Participate in weekly project meetings and support the Construction Manager in coordinating agenda items and follow‑through
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a construction management, field engineering, or project coordination role
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supporting project scheduling and subcontractor coordination on active job sites
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, Project, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across field and office settings
  • Valid driver's license required
