We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a large-scale new construction project in Montgomery, Alabama
. This role will lead on-site safety efforts, support multiple contractors, and help drive a proactive, compliance-focused safety culture across the project.
This is an exempt contract position offering a competitive monthly rate for a seasoned construction safety professional.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all on-site safety operations for an active new construction project
- Develop, implement, and enforce the site-specific safety plan
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, client safety standards, and company policies
- Conduct daily site walks, formal safety inspections, and compliance audits
- Identify high-risk activities and implement corrective and preventative controls
- Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Method Statements
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations; lead root cause analyses and corrective actions
- Deliver new hire orientations, site‑specific training, and routine toolbox talks
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce safety accountability
- Participate in project planning meetings to provide safety input on upcoming work
- Track, analyze, and report safety metrics, trends, and leading/lagging indicators
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, permits, and inspection records
- Coordinate with project leadership, general contractors, and subcontractors to resolve safety concerns
- Serve as the primary on-site safety point of contact for inspections and audits
- Support emergency response planning and drills
- Promote a visible, positive safety culture across the jobsite
- Proven experience in construction safety management
- BCSP Certificate Required
- Experience supporting ground‑up new construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices
- Proven ability to manage safety across multiple trades and subcontractors
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced construction environment
