Alabama State University, Office of Record and Registration, invites applications to fill the position of Transcript Clerk. The Student Records Specialist will handle a variety of tasks related to student records and administrative support within the Office of Records and Registration. This includes the processing of transcripts, the maintenance and management of student records and the providing of general administrative assistance.
In addition, assistance with admissions and registration may be required as will the ensuring of compliance with FERPA and all other relevant guidelines.
- Processing of transcript requests from students, alumni, and other authorized individuals; ensuring accuracy, security, and timely delivery.
- Record Maintenance, file management, and updating of student records in the University’s database(s), to include academic information, personal details, and other relevant data.
- Administrative support to include providing general support to the Office of Records and Registration; i.e., answering phones, responding to emails, and assistance with various assigned tasks.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of student records in adherence to FERPA and any other relevant statutory or regulatory guidelines.
- The Student Records Specialist will interact with students, faculty, staff, and the general public providing information and assistance related to records and registration.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience may be substituted, strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in data entry and record management, working knowledge of FERPA regulations, experience in an educational setting, familiarity with student information systems, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team preferred.
