LVN Part‑time, PRN (NOC Shift) General Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. The supervision must be in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure the highest degree of quality care.
Responsibilities- Direct daily functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with written policies and procedures.
- Review and update nursing service procedures manual.
- Plan and coordinate shift services, programs and activities with nursing and support staff.
- Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services.
- Assist in drug and narcotic administration, including verification of identity and documentation of orders.
- Maintain accurate and complete charting, accident/incident reports and resident charge slips.
- Admit, transfer and discharge residents as required, including completion of discharge plans and documentation.
- Supervise personnel activities, including scheduling, performance evaluation, training and discipline.
- Provide leadership and support to nursing personnel, fostering a warm and positive environment.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services and consult with physicians as needed.
- Maintain infection control and safety practices, including hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment and cleanup of hazardous materials.
- Manage equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and proper use.
- Review care plans and ensure nursing services are aligned with resident needs.
- Assist with staff development and ongoing training, including in‑service programs for OSHA, HIPAA, etc.
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections by authorized agencies.
- Minimum: LPN/LVN degree from an accredited college or university or graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
- Active, unencumbered LPN/LVN license in the state of employment.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
- Proficiency in mathematics concepts relevant to nursing practice.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities, including independent decision‑making and conflict resolution.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop and interpret programs, goals, policies and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with residents, family, staff, and community.
- Commitment to maintaining good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Move, lift or carry minimum 25 lbs. at a minimum height of 5 ft.
- Work intermittently during the day and respond to emergencies.
- Manage mental and emotional stress associated with the job.
- Maintain health and physical condition required by facility policies.
The position involves working in nursing service areas, including drug rooms and resident rooms, with frequent interruptions and potential exposure to infectious waste, hazardous chemicals and other contaminants. Employees must be prepared for irregular hours, call‑backs during emergencies and the emotional challenges of caring for residents and families.
