About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at the Presidio of Monterey U.S. Army Health Clinic in Monterey, California.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

- Oversee the performance of laboratory procedures by junior laboratory personnel.
- Perform high complexity laboratory testing offered at the facility to include urinalysis, hematology, serology, and microbiology.
- Ensure medical supplies are ordered and equipment is well maintained to continue the section's operational capabilities and productivity.
- Oversee quality assurance plan and procedures to ensure optimal functioning.
- Conduct laboratory instrument calibration, maintenance and validation on a recurring basis.
- Provide administrative and technical guidance to subordinate clinical laboratory personnel.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
