Job Description and Duties- Uses self‑motivating recreational activities to improve functioning and independence, reduce or eliminate the effects of illness or disability, and restore, remediate, or rehabilitate motor skills, social skills, sensory functioning, and acceptable social behavior; and provides resident recreation and leisure counseling to enable the patient/inmate to manage their leisure lifestyle appropriately.
Note: This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent.
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) will reduce each full‑time employee's base salary by 3 percent and will provide 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect these changes. Part‑time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full‑time employees, based on hours worked in the pay period.
Minimum Qualifications- Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in therapeutic recreation, or in recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation, or certification as a registered recreator with specialization in therapeutic recreation by the California Board of Park and Recreation Personnel, or the National Therapeutic Recreation Society, or eligibility for such certification.
- Graduation or equivalent proof must be provided before appointment.
