Our client, a global manufacturing company, is seeking a Controller to support its growing operations.
Location:Monterey, CA. This position is on-site.
Job Description:This organization provides advanced equipment and services used across multiple industries and is undergoing a meaningful operational transformation. This role offers the opportunity to modernize processes, enhance analytical rigor, and partner closely with executive leadership, with direct visibility to the CFO and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:- Manage all financial control and accounting activities, including the general ledger, cost accounting, and all subledger systems (cash, payables, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, taxes, payroll, etc.).
- Lead and coordinate the monthly financial close, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reviews, and monthly reporting packages.
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting best practices; support interim and year-end audits.
- Partner with leadership to analyze operational performance, compare results to plan/budget, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Review and maintain standard inventory costs, ensure bill-of-materials accuracy, and calculate product-level profit margins.
- Oversee cash management, AP cycles, cash forecasting, credit, and receivables.
- Oversee fixed-asset accounting and lease accounting.
- Lead process improvements that enhance automation, efficiency, and system accuracy (including potential system upgrades).
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations and coordinate timely statutory and tax filings.
- Perform additional duties and projects as needed.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial control experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, internal controls, and month-end close best practices.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with general accounting systems.
- Experience managing and developing accounting staff.
- Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills with close attention to detail.
