TEACHER (HIGH SCHOOL-GENERAL EDUCATION) (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY); TEACHER (ELEMENTARY-MULTIPLE SUBJECTS) (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY).
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position. We are seeking high energy, positive educators to join CDCR at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) with full-time permanent hours, comprehensive benefits, and up to 53 paid days off per year. This position is located at Salinas Valley State Prison, Soledad, CA, accessible off Highway 101. It is near Monterey, Carmel, San Jose, and nearby communities such as Soledad, Greenfield, and Gonzales, offering a relatively low cost of living.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group instruction under the supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs.
- Supervise inmates in the classroom and, if needed, assume general custodial responsibilities in emergencies.
- Control all materials and equipment used in the classroom; prepare courses of study and daily lesson plans.
- Counsel students on instructional progress and assist them in setting and meeting educational goals.
- Participate in program evaluation; inspect work areas and conduct contraband searches as required.
- Plan, assign, and supervise student work; contribute to program goals and outcomes.
