$90,000.00 / yr – $95,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities- Teach lower‑division molecular biology courses and associated labs, as well as electives in the upper division within your area of expertise.
- Implement innovative teaching and learning techniques that engage diverse students through active learning, course‑based research, and technology.
- Develop and maintain a research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate students.
- Seek and secure extramural funding to support your research program.
- Publish scholarly work in biology and maintain professional visibility.
- Collaborate with colleagues and professional outreach programs in the region.
- Ph.D. in Biology or related field by the time of appointment.
- Commitment to and experience in teaching undergraduates.
- Expertise in molecular biology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Expertise in cell biology, development, physiology, or immunology.
- Research and teaching interests that complement and strengthen those of existing faculty.
- Strong interest in teaching introductory and upper‑division courses in your area of expertise.
- Mentoring undergraduate students in research and/or internships using classic model systems.
- Experience with course and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Record of external funding and grant proposal writing.
- Leadership skills.
Employment requires completion of a background check and compliance with campus Title IX, child‑abuse reporting, and confidentiality requirements.
Compensation and BenefitsAnnual salary: $90,000 – $95,000. Additional benefits include health, dental and vision plans; fee‑waived education program; membership in CalPERS; and housing assistance near campus.
