The position of Water Production Systems Operator ensures department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest level of ethical standards.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS- Experience with accepted methods of repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance of water meters;
- Knowledge of safety rules and precautions related to use of tools, vehicles, and equipment;
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and flexibility;
- Solid interpersonal and customer service skills.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Typical ways to obtain the required knowledge include:
- One‑year experience in the operation and maintenance of water production systems and/or treatment plants;
- Graduation from high school supplemented by specialized training in water treatment methods and practices.
Possession of a valid Class C California motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record are required at the time of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Possession of a valid California Class B license is preferred.
A California State Department of Health Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 Certificate is required at time of appointment. T3 Certificate is highly desirable.
Physical RequirementsRequires some physical effort including bending, stooping, climbing and lifting items weighing 20–100 lbs. Tasks are occasionally performed in inclement weather.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMethods, materials, practices and equipment generally used in the construction, maintenance and operation of water production systems; control panels and basic electrical circuit controls; occupational hazards; accepted safety standards and precautions necessary in the workplace; basic laboratory methods; and principles and methods of hydraulics.
Ability To- Maintain records and prepare reports;
- Operate and maintain a variety of technical and maintenance equipment safely;
- Work shifts, weekends and during emergency conditions;
- Work effectively with other employees and the general public;
- Use a personal computer for report preparation and record keeping.
New hire candidates must show proof of full COVID vaccinations prior to being hired.

BENEFITS SUMMARY- 116 hours of paid holidays per year.
