Universal Mental Health Promoter – Huntington Park
Full‑time position serving as a Universal Mental Health Promoter program. Support in providing COVID‑19 and wellness information, empowering clients and their families to become informed, practise preventive measures and utilise available community resources with the goal of increasing their overall mental health and wellness.
Responsibilities- Provide health education through individual encounters in office and community settings.
- Make referrals to community support programs, health, and social services agencies; follow up to ensure resources are received.
- Assist in completing other program goals and requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation within the appropriate timeframe.
- Collect data related to Outcome Measures as directed by LA County Department of Mental Health.
- Work with specific target populations directed by Program Manager.
- Complete weekly logs and trackers needed for completion of monthly report.
- Effectively link community members to existing resources that mitigate the negative impacts of Covid‑19 and trauma.
- Promote COVID‑19 safety guidelines awareness and compliance.
- High School Diploma / GED preferred.
- Ability to communicate easily with others, including demonstrating active listening skills.
- Demonstrate flexibility in addressing changing community needs and programme environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to navigate the community and advocate for others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in work.
- Displays empathy, respect, and understanding of community resources, program goals, and organisational values and processes.
- Experience in community work, education, health care, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge and/or part of community served.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
- Information Technology skills such as laptops, smartphones, internet/online application systems, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid CA driver’s licence, proof of auto insurance and acceptable driving records.
$23 – $25 per hour.
