Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop and implement strategic sourcing policies as a competitive advantage to support customer programs and portfolios. They will create cost estimates and forecasts, negotiate cost-effective contracts with key suppliers while architecting the supply chain strategy for different programs and product. The Strategic Sourcing Manager leads and oversees our team of buyers and project buyers.

Role and responsibilities

  • Evaluating sourcing procedures and presenting improvement strategies to senior management for approval.
  • Partner and work with a cross-functional team to drive the supplier selection process (own RFx) and component qualification both under strict engineering and commercial best practices/disciplines.
  • Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure our suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps.
  • Develop robust supplier relationships to maintain effective communication channels and ensure ongoing alignment across several operations teams.
  • Lead discovery and research of new supplier/technologies.
  • Conducting market research, as well as creating cost estimates and forecasts.
  • Explore and recommend new or advanced technologies to implement and routinely keep key stakeholders apprised of market trends/technologies.
  • Develop sourcing strategy ensuring suppliers are capable of meeting CMP’s current and future technical and business requirements.
  • Analyzing and calculating procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies.
  • Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.
  • Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.
  • Hiring, training, and managing project buyers.
  • Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques. Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply gaps.
  • Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the CMP supply chain.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, logistics, or in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years' Sourcing and Supply Chain management experience in a related industry.
  • Strong command of value engineering and technical cost reduction concepts to both product and category level.
  • Proficiency in sourcing software and ERP, such e-Sourcing, LN et SAP.
  • Superb leadership and communication skills.
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and negotiate.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
  • Master the French and English language (suppliers/customers from the United States).
