Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in Montclair, New Jersey. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced finance department while gaining exposure to diverse accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounts payable and reconciliation processes, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Process invoices and manage accounts payable operations to ensure timely and accurate payments.

- Enter financial data into the accounting system with precision and attention to detail.

- Prepare and issue checks, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.

- Perform reconciliations for credit card and operating accounts to maintain accurate financial records.

- Assist in reconciling high-volume donation transactions to support financial reporting.

- Provide general accounting support, including assisting with audits and resolving discrepancies.

- Collaborate with team members to enhance financial workflows and improve efficiency. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable operations and financial data management.

- Strong skills in bank and credit card reconciliations, with a focus on accuracy.

- Ability to thrive in a high-volume work environment without compromising quality.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Familiarity with nonprofit or higher education accounting practices is preferred.

- Proficiency in accounting software and tools.

- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and departments.
