Job Summary

The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Master Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start‑up, troubleshooting, commissioning and servicing of industrial/commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position will be responsible for following the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Electrician with basic tasks.
• Complete maintenance work orders on electrical equipment: test malfunctioning equipment, identify defects, troubleshoot, repair equipment, and replace defective parts.
• Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
• Maintain personal equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• 2–4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes.
• Must be willing to submit to pre‑employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen.
• Basic computer knowledge is required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to understand schematics and technical manuals.

Preferred:

• Skilled in math, including adding and subtracting fractions.
• Reliable with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
• Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment.
• Fit and move in confined spaces, including tanks and vessels.
• Limited working surfaces.
• Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
• Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
