PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Prep Cook is responsible for delivering exceptional performance in their role, embodying Ranch core values, and upholding the standards set for Forbes Five-Star Properties and members of Relais & Chateaux. This position ensures the efficient and high-quality preparation of ingredients for all menu meticulously prepared components, the Prep Cook contributes directly to the property’s reputation for excellence and seamless kitchen operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare all food items according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards set by the Head Chef.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and rotated to minimize waste and maintain food safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff, including line cooks and dishwashers, to maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation procedures and HACCP guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift.
  • Assist in receiving and stocking deliveries, verifying inventory, and reporting discrepancies to the Head Chef.
  • Support the culinary team in executing special events and catering functions as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Head Chef.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training or certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen environment, preferably in a fine dining or luxury setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation principles.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently with precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team; ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Soft skills or personality traits aligned with Forbes Five-Star standards including professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry trays.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by Ranch needs.
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, as well as various kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
