Overview
The Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the practice of professional nursing which includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patients of all age groups (pediatric through geriatric). The RN is trained to competently manage the surgical patient through both the pre-admission and post-anesthesia processes. The RN will provide advocacy and care for the patient, during the pre-admission process, successfully assisting the patient to prepare for surgery and ensuring that all pre-operative processes have been followed and met.
The RN collaborates with surgical personnel, clinic personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and ancillary service providers. The RN should have a working knowledge of PACU nursing and participate in the call rotation, if required. Successful candidates will have a passion for customer service excellence, teamwork and enjoy working in a fast-paced, professional environment.
- Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patients of all ages in the pre-admission and PACU stages.
- Collaborate with surgical personnel, clinic personnel, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and ancillary service providers.
- Provide advocacy and care for patients during the pre-admission process and ensure pre-operative processes are followed.
- Participate in the call rotation as required and maintain knowledge of PACU nursing.
- Support a fast-paced, professional environment and commitment to customer service excellence.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with pre-admission/surgery experience.
- RNs must have a minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing, with BSN preferred.
- Active licensure in the State of Montana.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider Certifications are required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within the first year of employment.
